Stuck Compressor Clutch The compressor forces refrigerant and air through the AC system and switches on and off at set intervals as the warm, moist outside air turns into dry, cold air to give you that refreshing break from the heat you need. The compressor is powered by the crankshaft's movement, and its clutch connects to the AC pulley. Like all components, the clutch can wear out. If it fails and gets stuck, your AC will malfunction. A clutch that jams closed prevents the compressor from starting, and your AC won't work. If the clutch is jammed open, the compressor will continue to run. Failed Blower Motor Once air has been chilled, it needs to blow into your cabin. The fan speed dial on your dash is controlled by a resistor, which sets the blower motor speed.
